Family Support Specialist

About the Role:
The Family Support Worker will provide short-term, outcome-focused assistance to families experiencing significant challenges with the parent-child or parent-adolescent relationship. This includes crisis interventions such as conflict resolution, immediate modeling of parent techniques, facilitation of meetings, supervised access referrals, and additional work alongside the child.

Responsibilities:
- Provide crisis interventions to families in need, including conflict resolution and immediate modeling of parent techniques.
- Facilitate meetings and provide supervised access referrals as needed.
- Work alongside the child to provide additional support and guidance.
- Collaborate with the team to help reach the best outcomes for both the child and the family.
Requirements:
- A Bachelor's Degree in human/social/child and youth care services is required; a combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- One (1) year recent related work experience and demonstrated support skills working with families in crisis.
- Reliable transportation and a valid BC driver's license.
- Knowledge of and the ability to work with complex trauma, Autism, FASD, ODD or other neurobiological conditions is beneficial.
- Clear Criminal Record Check (agency conducted, expenses covered).
- Effective written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and as a team member.
