Gynecologic Oncology Physician

Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada Nova Scotia Health Authority Full time
About the Opportunity

The Division of Gynecologic Oncology at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia has an immediate opening for up to 2 locum physicians. We are seeking applications for an academic medical staff position. The Division provides gynecologic oncology care primarily for the province of Nova Scotia, which has a population of over 1 million, with approximately half residing outside the Halifax Regional Municipality. We also provide surgical gynecologic oncology services for patients from Prince Edward Island, accounting for about 10% of our surgical volume.

Our primary site is in Halifax, with outreach to community centers for clinical care. The group collaborates with radiation oncology, pathology, and genetics within the Nova Scotia Cancer Care Program. Department members participate in the education of medical students and residents, as well as a wide range of clinical and preclinical research with local collaborators in foundational science and epidemiology. Within our Collective Practice, we prioritize provincial quality of care initiatives to ensure equitable access and delivery of care. We operate in a Collective Care Clinical Model, with a shared surgical practice. The ideal candidate will be flexible and exhibit innovative thinking.

Halifax is a growing, dynamic city with a high percentage of residents involved in post-secondary education and healthcare. The province of Nova Scotia is investing in healthcare, implementing innovative programs and approaches to address universal challenges. The term of the locum(s) will commence as soon as possible, and we will work with the successful candidate(s) to provide an appealing term length. Permanent faculty positions are anticipated to be advertised in the near future.

Qualifications

Applicants require a RCPSC Fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology or equivalent. The successful candidates will be required to provide the full scope of gynecologic oncology care, including systemic therapy, surgical gynecologic oncology, and call coverage. Experience in clinical practice is preferred.

How to Apply

Interested applicants are invited to submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae to the specified contact. Please submit:

1. Resume/Curriculum Vitae (CV)

2. Cover Letter

Applications received prior to the deadline will be considered, as there is an urgent need to identify at least one candidate as soon as possible.
