About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health Clinical Coordinator. As a key member of our clinical leadership team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our mental health services.

Job Summary

This is a full-time position that requires a strong clinical background with training and experience in Mental Health/Psychiatry. You will be responsible for providing clinical supervision, guidance, and support to nursing staff, other clinical team members, and support staff within the assigned unit(s). Your expertise will help us achieve our goal of providing person-centered and recovery-oriented care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply established criteria and prioritize admissions/intake, lead and facilitate actions related to daily patient flow, plan for patient discharge, and ensure optimal progression to discharge, in collaboration with the clinical team.
  • Supervise nursing and nursing support staff, coordinate the work of the clinical team, observe work, correct where necessary, monitor quality of care and safety of patients, assign and adjust work assignments, schedules, and coordinates staff.
  • Support quality patient care and excellence in practice by promoting interprofessional collaboration and team building, supporting staff to plan and carry out patient/family education regarding illness prevention and health maintenance.
  • Initiate/lead/support plan of care conferences and rounds for the purpose of optimal patient care management according to best practice.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Three (3) years of recent related clinical experience in the designated clinical area, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Clinical proficiency/expertise in the designated clinical area, knowledge of community resources and health-related support services.
