About the Opportunity

Olds College of Agriculture & Technology seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented Student Advising Officer to support students in their academic journey. Reporting to the Associate Registrar, Student Information Systems & Records, this role is responsible for the administration and processes related to student registration, corresponding records, and graduation assessment.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Tasks:

  • Ensure students are registered into courses as per the Program of Study.
  • Create appropriate timetables for students on modified course loads.
  • Manage student records and corresponding data entry (e.g., student withdrawals, grade changes, course adding and dropping, and program/major changes, etc).
  • Supports a proactive enrolment process for continuing students including tracking and communication.

Advising and Support:

  • Advise current students on course and program options including pathways within and beyond Olds College.
  • Advise students on policies and processes related to academic regulations, integrity of credentials, grades, academic standing appeals, program progression, and graduation requirements.
  • Assist with Recognition of Prior Learning (i.e., transfer credit, challenge exam, prior learning assessment and recognition, course substitution and course waivers).
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) is preferred; equivalent combinations of education and work experience will be considered.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience with web-based tools and software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Two or more years of experience with Banner student information system or similar application/database.
