Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is between $25.27 and $30.05 per hour, based on industry standards and location.

Job Description

This role is responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This is an important role in patient care and our business, allowing you to see the difference you make in patients' lives.

You will be responsible for:

  • Greeting and requesting required information from patients, explaining the specimen collection process, and ensuring patients have followed necessary test protocol prior to specimen collection.
  • Performing phlebotomies, connecting/disconnecting holter monitors, 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, and performing ECG tracings.
  • Performing special test collections, such as medical/legal drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, and completing related documentation.
  • Maintaining client relationships, including responding to inquiries and following up on requests.
  • Completing data entry of required patient demographics, requisition information, and other information related to processing test results.
  • Preparing specimens for transportation and testing.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent related experience.
  • ECG training or experience is an asset.
  • Proficient data entry skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to effectively relate to patients and healthcare providers.
