About Our Team

Our team at Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) provides laboratory testing services across the lower mainland and central coast of BC, including acute care hospital laboratories and specialty laboratories.

Job Title: Medical Laboratory Assistant Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Assistant Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks related to laboratory testing, including specimen collection, preparation, and processing.

Estimated Salary: $55,000 - $65,000 per yearAbout the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in laboratory procedures and techniques, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You will be responsible for:

  • Collecting and preparing blood specimens from patients for testing.
  • Performing venipuncture and skin puncture procedures safely and accurately.
  • Preparing and labeling specimens for analysis.
  • Processing and sorting specimens for distribution.
  • Maintaining accurate records and logs of specimen collections and test results.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Grade 12 diploma and completion of a recognized lab assistant training program.
  • At least one year of recent experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
