**Job Summary**

The Government of Northwest Territories is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accounting Clerk to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our financial transaction processing.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Provide seasoned advice and guidance to Accounting Clerks on complex financial transactions and ensure accurate processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Process unique and specialized transactions related to client department specific program needs and reconcile complex or time-sensitive transactions.
  • Provide daily support and first-level escalation for transactions of an unusual nature, determining appropriate resolutions and escalating issues to the team as needed.
  • Ensure effective and timely processing of transactions, requiring considerable judgment and analytical skills.

**Requirements**

  • Grade 12 and post-secondary course financial/accounting courses (e.g. Introduction to Financial and Management accounting) and 2 years of directly related full cycle financial transaction processing experience; OR
  • Grade 12 and a Business Administration Diploma or Degree and 2 years of directly related full cycle financial transaction processing experience and 1 year of directly related payroll transaction processing experience; OR
  • Grade 12 and successful completion of the Canadian Payroll Certification - Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) and 3 years of directly related payroll transaction processing experience.
