About the Role

The Yellowknives Dene First Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Director to join our senior team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely financial management of our administration, in accordance with our Finance Policy and General Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to our senior team, ensuring that historical and forward-looking financial information is accurate and clearly communicated to key stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the achievement of our organizational goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts, ensuring that they are accurate, complete, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and maintain our financial systems, including SAGE 300 software, to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
  • Collaborate with our Chief Executive Officer and other senior leaders to develop and implement organizational policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in a senior financial management role, with a proven track record of success in financial leadership and management.
  • Excellent financial analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex financial data.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of cultural history, customs, and language of the Wiiliideh people is an asset.
