Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Conducting health and safety orientations for new employees and subcontractors
  • Performing inspections of the work site to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Investigating incidents and injuries, and handling related claims
  • Planning and coordinating health and safety training sessions
  • Monitoring employees and subcontractors to ensure they are following safety procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Providing coaching and support to project managers, supervisors, and workers on health and safety requirements
  • Developing, maintaining, and improving health and safety programs and processes
  • Providing monthly safety performance reports to management
  • Managing relationships with key clients and stakeholders to ensure alignment and engagement on health and safety matters

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2-4 years of practical health and safety experience and on-site industrial expertise
  • A post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Knowledge of Ontario Certificate of Recognition (COR) and relevant health and safety legislation
  • A valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

The successful candidate will also have:

  • Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Auditor qualifications and experience
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation, construction, industrial, and/or mining regulations
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance legislation and general management of waste, water, air, chemicals, etc.
