Job Summary:

The University of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly skilled Senior Safety Advisor to join its Safety Resources team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in promoting a safe and healthy environment on campus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain the University's Safety Management Systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct incident investigations, analyze root causes, and develop corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs to promote a culture of safety and well-being among university staff and students.
  • Collaborate with management and other stakeholders to identify and mitigate safety risks, and to develop and implement injury prevention strategies.
  • Manage Workers Compensation Board (WCB) claims, reports, and records to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to university departments and units to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.

Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in health and safety, with extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, regulations, and legislation.
  • Experience in conducting investigations, communicating findings and recommendations, providing health and safety training, managing WCB claims, and implementing Safety Management Systems.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant designation is an asset.
