Senior Safety Advisor, Safety Resources

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Safety Advisor to join our Safety Resources team at the University of Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting a safe and healthy environment on campus, implementing the University's Safety Management Systems, and reducing injury rates in various departments and units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implementing Safety Management Systems to ensure regulatory compliance and address safety hazards and risks.
- Conducting incident investigations, reporting, and implementing corrective measures to prevent future incidents.
- Developing and delivering safety training programs to promote a culture of safety and care.
- Providing oversight and case management for WCB recordable incidents and injuries.
- Managing files for WCB processes, communication, and reporting requirements.
- Developing and communicating reports on incident/injury statistics to stakeholders.
- Ensuring effective internal and external communications to promote a safe and healthy environment.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education and/or an OHS Practitioner Diploma, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of five years of experience in health and safety, with extensive knowledge of occupational health and safety standards, regulations, and legislation.
- Experience in conducting investigations, communicating findings and recommendations, providing health and safety training, managing WCB claims, and implementing Safety Management Systems.
- Preferred: Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) or Certified Health and Safety Consultant designation.
Working Environment: The Senior Safety Advisor will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with management and other USask leaders to implement Health and Safety programs. The role requires a compassionate approach to safety, suitable for those with a genuine interest in animal welfare. The position may also supervise other roles within Safety Resources.
