Position: Family Lawyer
Responsibilities:
- Independently manage family law files, ensuring timely and effective resolution of complex matters.
- Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division, utilizing expertise in negotiation and dispute resolution.
- Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, demonstrating strong advocacy skills and attention to detail.
- Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, fostering a collaborative and client-centric approach.
- Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, showcasing expertise in legal drafting and courtroom procedures.
- Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, leveraging strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, ensuring seamless and efficient case management.
- Experience in general civil litigation is an asset, providing a broader understanding of legal principles and procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of current experience in British Columbia family law practice, with a strong track record of success.
- Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.
- Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Desire to become part of a dynamic and growing law firm, with a commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.
- Enthusiasm for growing practice and working towards partnership, with a long-term perspective and career goals.
- Ability to live in Vancouver or Victoria and commute to the other location 2-3 days per week, with flexibility and adaptability.
Compensation:
- Base salary depending on the year of call, with a competitive compensation package and opportunities for growth and advancement.
