Position: Family Lawyer

Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage family law files, ensuring timely and effective resolution of complex matters.
  • Handle a wide range of family law matters, including separation agreements, spousal maintenance, and asset division, utilizing expertise in negotiation and mediation.
  • Conduct hearings, discoveries, mediations, and trials, demonstrating strong advocacy skills and attention to detail.
  • Instruct support staff and receive instructions from clients, fostering a collaborative and client-centric approach.
  • Draft pleadings and speak to chamber applications, showcasing expertise in legal drafting and courtroom procedures.
  • Negotiate at mediations and appear at trials, leveraging strong negotiation and advocacy skills to achieve favorable outcomes.
  • Manage all aspects of a file from beginning to end, ensuring seamless and efficient case management.
  • Experience in general civil litigation is an asset, providing a broader understanding of legal principles and strategies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of current experience in British Columbia family law practice, with a strong track record of success.
  • Ability to handle challenging work and manage files independently, with a high level of autonomy and self-motivation.
  • Strong judgment, work ethic, and interpersonal skills, with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Desire to become part of a dynamic and growing law firm, with a commitment to excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Enthusiasm for growing practice and working towards partnership, with a long-term perspective and career goals.
  • Ability to live in a location that allows for regular commuting to the firm's offices, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work arrangements.

Compensation:

  • Base salary depending on the year of call, with opportunities for growth and advancement.
