About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Lawyer, Family Law Clinics to join our team at Legal Aid BC. As a Staff Lawyer, you will provide legal counsel and representation to clients in the full range of family/child protection law practice, including separation, divorce, parenting arrangements, property division, and child protection matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide family law services, including summary legal advice and information to clients, and individual case representation and duty counsel services in courts as assigned.
  • Screen and support clients who have experienced family violence.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare required documents.
  • Develop solutions to family problems and act for clients in all family matters at hearings, trials, and appeals in all levels of BC Courts.
  • Discuss, negotiate, and resolve case matters by working with opposing lawyers, judges, witnesses, and police as appropriate.
