About the Role

The Second Cook is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for preparing high-quality food to order for guests in a timely and professional manner. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food to order, adhering to established guidelines and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Assist with daily food requisitions, ordering, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient food production and presentation.
  • Communicate effectively with guests, colleagues, and management to ensure seamless service.

Requirements

  • Culinary Journeyman Red Seal Certificate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years cooking experience or 1 year as a Second Cook in a similar environment.
  • Previous experience in all areas of the kitchen, including suite food production, buffets, banquets, and catering.
  • Strong knowledge of food terminology, handling, and preparation.
  • Ability to take direction, work effectively in a team, and adapt to changing scheduling.

Working Conditions

This role requires standing, walking, and stooping for extended periods. The ability to lift up to 25 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment is essential.
