Healthcare Leader

The Medical Director Heart Health Advancement role is a senior leadership position at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH). This role is part of a co-leadership team responsible for developing high-quality services in the expanding area of Heart Health at Island Health.
Main Responsibilities:
- Co-lead and oversee activities to ensure efficient, effective, and integrated program service delivery with the Island Health Heart Health program.
- Collaborate with Departmental Medical Leaders to address physician governance and professional medical practice issues.
- Establish processes and structures for continuous quality improvement of service delivery, in alignment with the Heart Health Program.
- Monitor program budget and performance, making course corrections when necessary.
- Co-develop change management plans to engage and support physicians and staff through change.
- Oversee activities that advance technology and data use to improve service delivery using electronic health records (EHR) in collaboration with the Quality Systems team.
- Assess, monitor, and anticipate program resource needs, working with medical leaders and administrative leaders to prioritize these needs within available resources.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend the clinical governance Clinical Excellence Committee and the NRGH local quality and operations committee.
- Attend appropriate provincial heart health committees.
- Ensure Island Health email address is used for work-related activities.
- Dedicate time to this position during Island Health regular working hours or as agreed upon with the Executive Medical Director and Executive Director.
- Participate in orientation and training.
