About the Role

We are currently seeking an Internal Auditor to actively participate in the planning and execution of mandates in the following key areas:

  • Financial Compliance (52-109)
  • Application conversions and upgrades
Duties and Responsibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Planning and executing audits; evaluating risks, identifying internal controls to mitigate risks, designing audit procedures, and evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of controls.
  • Formulating, documenting, and discussing deficiencies with control owners, developing conclusions, identifying root causes, and providing recommendations for control and process improvements.
  • Drafting audit report findings that document the results and findings of the engagements.
  • Performing follow-up reviews to verify that management action plans have been effectively implemented.
  • Providing periodic updates to Manager, Internal Audit on the status of assigned work.
  • Providing business advice on design of controls.
  • Supporting the monitoring of project progress.
  • Completing tests on conversions and project controls.
  • Reporting on results and providing recommendations for improvement.
  • As required, providing results and working papers.
  • Acting as a first response for questions on controls.
  • Participating in advisory mandates providing recommendations on control design or operation to help improve efficiency and effectiveness of the control environment.
  • Supporting Manager, Internal Audit with various ad-hoc and special requests from Management, and the Audit Committee related to governance, risk, and controls.
Required Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, the successful candidate must have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or in a related field.
  • Professional designation, or in process of completion (CPA CA, CIA, CFE or equivalent).
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in audit; internal audit and financial compliance experience is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and French, with Spanish being an asset.
  • Strong understanding of internal audit's purpose and role within the organization.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards, common audit procedures and techniques, and risk management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with accounting standards: IFRS, COSO, NI 52-109 Certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with basic experience in data analytics techniques and tools such as Power BI being an asset.
  • Knowledge of the basic concepts of an ERP system, with SAP applications being an asset.
  • Ability to act as an ethical, proactive, and objective professional.
  • Collaborative approach with individuals and teams, engaging others with warmth, sincerity, and transparency.
  • Self-motivated and able to manage and prioritize workload in a constantly changing environment, ensuring quality of work while meeting deadlines.
  • Mobility required, with travel up to 10% of the time, primarily in Canada and the United States.
