About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Mid-Market Banking to lead a team of Relationship Managers in the Canadian market. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in commercial banking, excellent sales management skills, and a strong network of contacts in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and execute business strategies to meet client needs and drive revenue growth.
  2. Lead and manage a team of Relationship Managers to ensure effective execution of business plans.
  3. Maintain strong relationships with key clients, centers of influence, and internal stakeholders.
  4. Stay up-to-date on industry trends, competitor activity, and market developments to inform business decisions.
  5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that meet client needs.
  6. Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and across the organization.
  7. Ensure adherence to Scotiabank's risk appetite and risk culture framework.
  8. Provide coaching and development opportunities to team members to enhance their skills and performance.

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of commercial banking experience with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong network of prospects, potential Relationship Manager candidates, and centers of influence in the region.
  • Expert knowledge of Canada's financial services marketplace and assigned market area's key industries, major customers, and competitive positioning.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian Business Banking objectives, strategies, and structures.
  • Expert sales management, coaching, relationship building, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to influence and motivate others.
  • Must set a positive example of change and encourage others to do the same.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential for business development/customer relationship building and to facilitate a positive and effective team environment.
  • Must be able to effectively articulate views to all levels both within the Bank and externally in the marketplace.
  • Strong personal computer skills and familiarity with word processing, spreadsheet software, and planning tools are necessary.
