Lead Game Engine Optimizer

Epic Games is a leading developer of award-winning games and engine technology. We are seeking a Senior Technical Artist to join our team working on LEGO Fortnite.
This role will focus on creating tools in the Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) to enhance workflow efficiency, capture performance data, conduct analysis, and generate improvement plans. Key challenges include maintaining the right balance between visual fidelity and performance/memory cost on all platforms, showcasing games at the highest quality, and setting industry standards.
Responsibilities:- Develop guidelines and tools directly in UE5 to optimize workflow efficiency
- Communicate optimization plans to multiple teams, define priorities, and plan execution
- Analyze performance data using UE5 profiling tools and other tools like Renderdoc, LLGD
- Raise quality standards on low-end platforms through optimization plans and best practices
- Experience working on AAA games for console, PC, Switch, and/or mobile platforms
- Proficiency in several key areas: profiling, scripting, optimization, procedural workflow
- Strong understanding of real-time rendering best practices in PBR environments
- Ability to collaborate with artists and programmers
- Familiarity with UE5 and node-based logic like Blueprints
- Experience capturing performance data, conducting analysis, and generating improvement requests
- Adaptability to new technologies and willingness to innovate
- Knowledge of Python and/or C++ programming languages
- Experience shipping games on Switch and/or mobile platforms
- Experience working on fast-paced live service games
