About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer with expertise in Geotechnical Support to join our team at ExxonMobil Corporation. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and development of mine infrastructure, ensuring the safety and efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop geotechnical designs for mine pit walls, overburden disposal areas, and material stockpile designs.
  • Conduct risk management and stewardship activities for supported structures.
  • Support Operations organization in construction and execution of designed structures.
  • Coordinate with third-party geotechnical lab on materials testing, testing priority, and budget management.
  • Coordinate with core lab to ensure proper workflow, testing/sampling, and application of facies descriptions.
  • Support geotechnical design, surveillance, and reporting for Kearl's tailing structures and dykes.
  • Generate haul road and equipment maintenance pad designs for 400t haul trucks and electric cable shovels, including generating engineering drawing packages and construction execution packages.
Requirements
  • New Graduate from a geological/geotechnical, civil, or mining engineering undergraduate university program.
  • Up to 3 years relevant industry experience in related work scopes.
  • Occasional trips to the Kearl Mine Site, including overnight stays in camp, will be required.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
  • Experience in completing slope stability analysis. Experience with GeoStudio Suite of programs such as Slope/W and Seep/W is an added benefit.
