Job Title: Field Service Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team in the Greater Montreal, QC or Greater Quebec City, QC area. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing technical support to our customers in the food and pharmaceutical industries, ensuring that our Metal Detection, X-Ray, and Check-weighing products are operating at peak efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Travel to customer sites to deliver efficient field support and resolve technical issues.
  • Verify machine performance through calibration and testing, and commission and test machines using certified procedures.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and emergency service at customer sites, accurately documenting and reporting all service-related activities.
  • Promote sales of additional Loma product offerings, such as service contracts and spare parts kits.
  • Provide timely feedback on equipment reliability and design, and maintain a satisfactory parts inventory.
  • Exercise safe working practices and procedures at all times, and conduct on-site training with customer personnel to ensure proper equipment operation.
  • Hold meetings with customers, including scope and exit meetings, and participate in the rotation of weekend on-call duties and after-hours phone support.
  • Communicate effectively with internal office support staff on technical issues, and attend refresher training classes and FSE meetings to promote continuous improvement of technical and non-technical skillsets.
Requirements:
  • High school diploma required; Associates degree from a technical school preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of previous experience in field customer service work or 4 years of military experience required.
  • Knowledge of and experience in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electro-mechanical equipment in the field, with the ability to identify root causes.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to complete paperwork and expense reports efficiently.
  • Self-motivation, with a drive to exceed expectations and deliver exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret complex technical information, including schematics and electrical diagrams.
  • Professional communication skills, with the ability to resolve customer issues and defuse conflict.
  • Strong ability to use electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters.
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision, managing difficult and high-pressure customer situations.
  • Proficient with office software applications, and ability to work overtime and weekends.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to travel extensively (80% or more) to service customers.
  • Ability to work in tight spaces, noisy, odorous, dusty, cold, and hot environments, and lift and/or move up to 60 lbs. regularly.
  • Ability to stand for long periods, walk, twist, bend, kneel, crawl, crouch, reach, climb, and work in awkward positions.
