Deaf Community Support Specialist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Deaf Community Support Specialist to join our team at The Bob Rumball Centre. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in providing intensive community-based support to individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
About the RoleThis is a part-time permanent position that requires 16 hours of work per week, primarily on Saturdays and Sundays from 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team under the supervision of the Program Manager.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading and participating in treatment planning, service reviews, plan of care, program planning, and evaluation meetings;
- Ensuring activities and daily support approaches align with our agency's mission, vision, values, strategic direction, and policies to provide the highest quality of care;
- Establishing routines, limits, and daily living skills to ensure a safe and predictable environment;
- Implementing daily programming activities consistent with ISP/PDP goals, tracking, and reporting progress;
- Participating in day-to-day residential care, including personal hygiene routines, daily activity schedules, operational duties, and administrative tasks;
- Effectively managing caseload requirements and agency reporting expectations through data collection, trend analysis, client profile maintenance, and documentation;
- Documenting, tracking, and analyzing data reporting findings to the Behavioral Therapist and Program Manager;
- Implementing strategies targeted to reduce behavior, tracking, and reporting progress;
You will be working closely with the team and individual service teams to provide excellent service and advocating on behalf of individuals and their specific needs/goals.
RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A DSW Diploma or related college degree or equivalent work-acquired experience;
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in a residential setting with consumers with developmental disabilities, mental health needs, and/or dual diagnosis;
- Knowledge and experience working within the Deaf community and fluency in ASL;
- Certificate as a Registered Behaviour Technician an asset;
- Previous ABA training and/or experience preferred;
- Demonstrated leadership, creative problem-solving abilities, good judgement, and critical thinking;
- Advocates for and with the Individuals and deaf community at all times;
- Experience managing nutritional needs of clients;
- Direct knowledge and experience working with individuals diagnosed with Autism; Knowledge and/or experience using augmented communication tools;
- Demonstrated knowledge of DSO and developmental services sector;
- Excellent communication, literacy, interpersonal skills, and experience in computer literacy (e.g., Words, Excel, Outlook);
- Knowledge and experience with report writing and data entry and experience managing nutritional needs of clients;
- Current Quality Assurance Measures, Safe Management, Medication Administration, and WHMIS certification and ability to actively participate in all trainings;
- Innovation, initiative, and integrity;
- Physical capacity and ability to work 1:1 with clients with developmental disability;
- Valid Ontario Full G Driver's License and clean driving record;
- French language/LSQ an asset.
