Senior Accounts Payable Clerk

The Accounts Payable Clerk contributes to the efficient processing of invoices by determining the tax status of goods purchased, coding invoices to General Ledger accounts, and handling general office routines and correspondence. Key responsibilities include:

- Process invoices in a multi-fund environment, ensuring accurate coding to the correct fund.
- Match invoices to purchase orders, verify mathematical accuracy, and prioritize documents received to meet scheduled deadline dates.
- Schedule, edit, and print cheques to suppliers as required.
- Reconcile suppliers' statements to ensure accuracy.
- Verify that all suppliers' invoices contain necessary information, including vendor number, purchase order number, invoice number, and General Ledger account number.
- Attend to all correspondence related to accounts payable, including unpaid invoices and auditors' confirmations.
- Identify the tax status of suppliers' invoices using reference materials provided.
- Allocate invoices to the appropriate General Ledger accounts.
- Prepare quick pay invoices into batches and input them into the computer system as required.
- Sort suppliers' invoices into alphabetical order, batch, and input them into the computer system.
- File invoices and supplier correspondence to facilitate the matching and processing functions.
Requirements:
- Grade 12, completion of a recognized accounting course, and two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm.
