Emergency Department Registered Practical Nurse

North York General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Emergency Department. As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the hospital's academic mandate.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent patient and family-driven care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of care providers to assess, educate, prevent, maintain, and restore patient health. Your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families will be essential in this role.
Key Responsibilities- Provide high-quality patient care in the Emergency Department, prioritizing patient needs and demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and families to ensure seamless care delivery.
- Make informed decisions, taking ownership of actions and using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to benefit patients.
- Ensure patient safety and health by following hospital policies and guidelines.
- Embody a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, enhancing knowledge and skills to deliver exceptional care.
- Registered Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized Community College.
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Minimum 2 years of acute medical/surgical nursing experience.
- Experience working in an emergency department and/or ambulatory urgent care space is preferred.
- IV initiation, phlebotomy, and electrocardiogram interpretation skills are preferred.
- Competent in cardiac monitoring is preferred.
- Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.
