Job Summary

The Director of Nursing and Personal Care is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the delivery of high-quality nursing and personal care services to residents in a long-term care home. This position requires a strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage competing priorities and demands in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement nursing and personal care policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Supervise and manage a team of nursing and personal care staff, including scheduling, assigning, and reviewing work.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless delivery of care services and promote a culture of safety and quality improvement.
  • Develop and manage budgets for nursing and personal care services, ensuring effective use of resources and achieving financial targets.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes, and implement evidence-based care protocols to improve resident outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care and service delivery.
Requirements
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse.
  • Baccalaureate in Nursing and certification in Nursing Administration or equivalent management experience.
  • Considerable experience in supervising, managing, motivating, and developing a diverse workforce in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment.
  • Strong understanding of policies and related legislation or initiatives and their significance and potential impact.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong financial acumen, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and demands.
