Senior Finance Executive Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Finance Executive to join our team at The Pod Group. This is an exceptional opportunity for a finance professional to lead the finance and IT functions of a leading community-based agency.

About the Agency:

The agency provides support for men living with mental health and substance abuse issues and has involvement with the justice system. They are dedicated to supporting clients, building their capacity and enabling the development of key life skills through evidence-informed holistic programs and services that optimize quality of life.

About the Role:

The Director of Finance will be a key member of the leadership team, empowering and leading the finance and IT team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day finance and administrative operations, including the preparation, administration and monitoring of operating and capital budgets, monthly accounting, budgeting and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide leadership to the Finance and IT team.
  2. Coordinate all activities within the Finance Department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting, payroll, special projects accounting, financial planning, budgeting and reporting.
  3. Ensure that all month-end financial accounting duties and all resulting reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner.
  4. Lead the finance committee of the board of directors and participate in the monthly and annual room and board reconciliation and present reports, including Actual to Budget analysis, annual budget process and Cash Flow preparation.
  5. Manage the investment portfolio of the organization.
  6. Review and approve payroll, Group Benefits, Group RRSP and T4's.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five (5) years experience working in a not-for-profit, government-funded organization in a finance management or executive leadership role.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
  • Knowledge of government and funder agency structures, procedures and reporting.
  • Expert knowledge of financial planning, financial management and accounting/financial reporting systems and procedures to manage the agency's fiscal and business affairs.
  • Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to participate in the development of strategic and operational plans and policy recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex ideas to create clarity with diverse audiences with varying levels of issue expertise and understanding.
  • Experience to represent the agency with external contacts and to provide advisory services to the CEO, Board of Directors and committees of the Board.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a respectful and aware manner with groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Highly developed technical and analytical skills with ability to use expert level judgment for strategic thinking and problem solving.

Estimated Salary Range:

$85,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
