Job Title: Underwriting Manager, Auto

Job Summary:

CNA is seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to lead our auto underwriting team. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leadership, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of commercial property and casualty insurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coaches, leads, and develops a team of underwriting staff to produce and underwrite business within the branch to achieve branch profit, sales, and growth objectives.
  • Assists underwriters and underwrites large complex risks with renewal and production targets.
  • Drives regional and branch initiatives and business strategies in order to achieve profit, sales, and growth objectives.
  • Reviews and manages the application of underwriting policy and pricing for all risks within an assigned book of business.
  • Develops, maintains, and cultivates broker relationships to ensure positive and profitable outcomes.
  • Keeps current on region/territory issues and regulations, industry activity, and trends. May participate in industry trade groups.
  • Ensures a positive, professional company image is maintained within the business community, the insurance industry, and the producers selling our product.
  • Manages work and business flow within the department through work assignment and referral procedures.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills, with proven ability to motivate, coach, and support a team of professionals.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners.
  • Customer service focused. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must have strong presentation and marketing skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills. Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to conceptualize details and develop action plans for problem solving and decision making.
  • Proficiency working with computers, specifically with MS Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • University degree desired plus a minimum of 8 years of commercial property and casualty industry experience. Previous experience in a management capacity is preferred.
  • CIP designation preferred.
