The Opportunity:

Sovereign Insurance is seeking a skilled Supervisor to lead our Underwriting Assistant Pool. As a Supervisor, you will direct and evaluate the day-to-day activities of the underwriting assistant team, establishing, communicating, and monitoring performance outcomes and goals in alignment with Sovereign's strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a national team of underwriting assistants providing administrative and processing services to various Commercial underwriting teams.
  • Partner with Underwriting teams to support a team-oriented approach to meeting goals and objectives, including written premium and profitability objectives nationally.
  • Maintain required service standards while following established workflows and procedures, including national processes where applicable.
  • Lead process documentation and workflow development and improvements, including expansion of Underwriting Assistant services to other underwriting business units as required.
  • Coach and develop your team, recruiting and selecting talent, recognizing achievements, and managing performance to develop an agile team and achieve department objectives.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience.
  • 1-2 years Underwriting or Underwriting Support experience.
  • Insurance Operations experience required.
  • Completion of Post-secondary education required.
  • Having Insurance Industry Courses (CIP/FCIP) is an asset.
