The BC Energy Regulator is responsible for overseeing oil and gas activities in British Columbia, ensuring they are done safely and in compliance with regulations.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead our Indigenous Relations team. As a key member of our leadership group, you will provide strategic advice on Indigenous engagement and develop proactive strategies to build strong relationships with Indigenous communities.
This is a senior leadership role that requires strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. You will work collaboratively with our staff and stakeholders to implement effective consultation and application review processes, negotiate permits, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic advice to senior leaders on Indigenous relations and engagement
- Develop and implement proactive strategies to build strong relationships with Indigenous communities
- Lead a geographically dispersed team across the province
- Collaborate with other department leads to implement consultation and application review processes
- Negotiate permits and agreements with Indigenous groups
Requirements:
- Master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Indigenous relations, government, or a related field
- Proven track record of building strong relationships with Indigenous communities
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders
