Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Service Manager to join our team at FedEx Canada. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of our material handling equipment, controls systems, and associated scanning equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Management
    • Provide coaching, skills development, and performance management to a team of maintenance technicians.
    • Establish and manage performance expectations to ensure high-quality maintenance services.
  • Operational Planning and Control
    • Plan, organize, and direct the day-to-day operations of the maintenance department.
    • Ensure compliance with FedEx standards and address any variances or budget concerns.
  • Technical Expertise
    • Provide technical expertise in electrical and mechanical systems, including sortation systems.
    • Manage the daily use of Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) activities.
  • Quality Assurance and Improvement
    • Conduct quality audits of technician work tasks and communicate results.
    • Identify and propose improvements to the material handling system to enhance operations.
  • Vendor Management
    • Acquire bids from and manage vendors and suppliers, including maintenance, repair, and improvement vendors.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Education
    • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, or maintenance engineering technology preferred.
  • Experience
    • 8 years of progressive light industrial maintenance experience with 2 years of demonstrated experience leading maintenance-related project teams.
    • Preferred experience in mechanical power transmission, electrical power, or machine controls.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Software skills, including Microsoft Office and web-based applications.
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    • Presentation skills to facilitate training and deliver informational sessions.
    • Time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
    • Ability to anticipate and identify problems and develop effective solutions.
    • Ability to motivate a team and positively influence diverse groups.
    • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Understanding of mechanical and electrical design, layout, fabrication, and repair practices.
    • Knowledge of motors, motor control methods, and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting techniques.
    • Knowledge of PLC and computer control systems.
    • Thorough understanding of the SWAK (Barcode Reader) control system.
    • Experience troubleshooting and repairing label scanners.
    • Knowledge of applicable safety codes.
    • Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematic diagrams.
