Job Summary

The City of Edmonton is seeking a highly skilled Infrastructure Systems Analyst to join our Innovation & Technology Bureau. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and administration of our physical and virtual infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer and troubleshoot Azure Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and AWS/Azure infrastructure.
  • Manage a complex virtual infrastructure using VMware ESXi server, Citrix Netscaler, and Citrix XenApp Server technologies.
  • Provide technical expertise for the operation and maintenance of existing server, storage, and security solutions to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Manage S3 Object storage for backups and enterprise digital content.
  • Perform daily maintenance and administration of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange server, Blackberry UEM, Storage Area Networks, VPN, and proxy server appliances.
  • Monitor and maintain backup solutions, including disk and SAN-based technologies.
  • Work with VMware ESXi server and vCenter, and perform physical and virtual server builds and images.
  • Monitor and analyze performance of Windows and ESXi-based operating systems, and troubleshoot complex infrastructure performance issues.
  • Receive, prioritize, document, and resolve complex infrastructure support requests using diagnostic and help request tracking tools.
  • Monitor logs and network traffic for unusual or suspicious activity, and implement resolutions.
  • Manage virus, intrusion, and infrastructure-related policy violations.
  • Update existing documentation as necessary, and create new documents as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from a recognized Institute of Technology or University program in an appropriate specialty, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in infrastructure administration and maintenance.
  • Experience with supported Windows server operating systems, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Exchange 2016, Blackberry UEM, VMware ESXi server 6.x/7.x, XenApp 7.x, enterprise backup solutions, Storage Area Networks, and enterprise-grade server hardware.
  • Experience with scripting languages like PowerShell.
  • Experience with MFA, SSO, and identity management standards like SAML and OAuth.
  • Familiarity with profile management solutions such as FSLogix.
  • Working knowledge of SolarWinds for monitoring, reporting, and alerting.
  • Microsoft 365 or Azure certifications are considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of an enterprise Public Key Infrastructure is considered an asset.
  • Able to rapidly acquire in-depth knowledge of unfamiliar systems through research and self-learning.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, teamwork, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Highly self-motivated with the proven ability to work independently to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a mission-critical high-pressure environment.
  • Able to perform the physical requirements of the job, including lifting up to 35 kilograms.
Working Conditions

This is a permanent full-time position with a 33.75-hour workweek, Monday to Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of the variable hours of work program. Incumbents must be available for call-out outside of regular hours on a rotational basis.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $65.30 per hour, with a bi-weekly salary of $3, $4, and an annual salary of $90, $115.
