About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Maternity team at Providence Healthcare. As a Maternity Nurse Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical, social, and emotional needs, and develop individualized care plans to address their unique requirements.
  • Care Delivery: Provide direct nursing care to patients, including administering medications, performing medical procedures, and monitoring patients' progress.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
  • Education and Support: Provide patient education and support to promote healthy behaviors, disease prevention, and self-management.
  • Leadership and Professional Development: Participate in nursing orientation and share clinical knowledge with other nursing staff, nursing students, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
Requirements
  • Education: Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, or in Residential Care and Mental Health, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Experience: Two years' recent experience in a maternity setting with a labour and birth component and/or recent completion of a Perinatal Nursing Specialty certificate and/or recent Midwifery certificate.
  • Certifications: Current neonatal resuscitation certification.
