About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Medical Director to lead our psychiatric services in oncology. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing strategic direction and vision for clinical, educational, and research activities.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will have a strong background in psychiatry and experience in leadership roles. They will be expected to provide expert guidance on mental health care for cancer patients and work collaboratively with other teams to achieve our goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of policies, guidelines, and protocols for psychiatric services in oncology
  • Collaborate with regional centre Executive Medical Directors on hiring new medical staff and participate in their orientation and onboarding
  • Maintain professional practice standards of psychiatric medical staff
  • Facilitate growth in health equity and cultural competency within the team
  • Proactive management of patient safety and patient experience, and participation in response to patient safety events
  • Represent BC Cancer on committees and in other connections with organizations
Requirements
  • Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC's Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019)
  • Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports
  • Eligibility for provisional or full licensure with CPSBC, and obtained fellowship in Psychiatry with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or equivalent
