Oceanographer - Marine Research Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Oceanographer to join our team at the Ocean Technology Council of Nova Scotia.
About the JobThis is a full-time position that involves conducting research programs and studies on ocean processes, characteristics, and impacts of human activity on marine ecosystems. The successful candidate will have a strong background in geosciences and experience working in offshore environments.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for studying the contents, boundaries, and physical and biological aspects of the ocean. This includes developing models, charts, and computer simulations of tides, waves, currents, and sediment transport. The candidate will also conduct seismic surveys and study formation of ocean basins and other structures to map the ocean floor and areas for offshore oil and gas exploration.
About the Requirements- Education: Post-Graduate Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Geoscience or a related field
- Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in offshore environments
- Skills: Strong knowledge of physical properties of oceans, ability to work with scientific data, excellent communication and cooperation skills, familiarity with computers, and a background in physics and biology
The successful candidate will work in an office environment with occasional travel to offshore locations. Physical stamina may be necessary for those doing fieldwork at sea.
