Job Summary

Petro Canada Lubricants Inc, an HF Sinclair company, is seeking a Reliability Engineer to lead reliability improvement activities and steward predictive/preventative Mechanical Integrity programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for completing asset Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and ensuring the expected level of reliability is consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day production requirements through direct participation in Cross Functional Team (CFT) meetings and follow-up requests
  • Assess condition of online equipment for suitability of continued safe and reliable operation
  • Regularly monitor critical assets and understand failure cause(s) in consultation with stakeholders
  • Identify corrective actions and support Planning in developing equipment scope of repair following failures
  • Support the identification, planning, budgeting, and implementation of reliability improvement initiatives
  • Steward the performance of predictive/preventative programs for mechanical assets
  • Lead and support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for events impacting asset reliability
  • Develop and implement asset strategies, including identification of spare parts, routine maintenance activities, long-term upgrades, and obsolescence planning
Requirements
  • A minimum 5 years of related refinery experience
  • Related work experience overseeing a variety of rotating equipment operation and repairs is an asset
  • Knowledge of developing asset strategies, PM programs, and sparing philosophy for rotating equipment
  • Critical Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) techniques
Education and Skills
  • A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, OR Technologist Diploma in a related mechanical field with additional years of relevant experience
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship building skills
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly, multi-task, organize work, and prioritize efficiently
  • General understanding of working principles of refinery equipment
  • Grasp of common reliability and maintenance practices
  • Robust analytical and investigative skills (troubleshooting) to develop repair scopes and make sound recommendations for complex failures and events
Work Environment
  • High degree of activity – high stress when addressing significant incident and emergency activities
  • Pressure from CFT's to handle multiple competing priorities for support
  • Approximate 40%/20%/40% office/shop/plant split
  • Shift-work may be required during times of planned maintenance turnarounds
  • Extended hours may be required when business requirements dictate
