Software Acquisition Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Team as a Software Acquisition Specialist.

About the RoleThis is an exciting opportunity to apply your business development skills towards acquisitions in an entrepreneurial environment. As a Software Acquisition Specialist, you will spend most of your time proactively reaching out to business owners and management teams of software companies in the Engineering and Forestry space to build and manage acquisition targets for our CEG group.
You will be responsible for:
- Managing and growing our M&A prospect database by identifying small, medium, and large-sized software companies that meet our acquisition criteria;
- Nurturing acquisition prospects by proactively initiating and maintaining relationships with owners of software businesses;
- Conducting market research to evaluate potential acquisition prospects and obtain high-level financial and operational information about target companies;
- Initiating outbound prospecting calls and emails to connect with target companies;
- Developing and building relationships with CEOs, Presidents, and Owners;
- Following up on outbound and inbound prospect activities in a timely manner;
- Tracking activities and maintaining relevant information in Salesforce CRM.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong work ethic and ability to initiate a high volume of calls/conversations per day;
- An entrepreneurial attitude and ability to work independently and connect the dots when speaking to business owners;
- Articulate and persuasive communication skills;
- An analytical and intellectually curious mindset;
- A completed undergraduate university degree (business or other) and an interest in business development;
- Any experience in sales, software/technology, corporate development/strategy, or energy/oil and gas verticals is considered an asset.
We offer a competitive base salary of approximately $100,000 per year, plus performance-oriented bonus. Full benefits and corporate programs allowing direct stock purchase through payroll. The role offers hybrid working arrangements with some international travel required.
