Job Summary

The University Health Network is seeking an Administrative Assistant I to support the Nursing Resource Team in performing staffing administration functions, including assigning staff to nursing units and scheduling. The successful candidate will have significant experience in managing time and tasks in a busy office environment, excellent MS Office skills, and the ability to multitask effectively.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform staffing administration functions, including assigning staff to nursing units and scheduling
  • Support the Nursing Resource Team in their role
  • Develop structures and processes to improve work-flow in the NRT office
  • Provide administrative support to the PMH Nursing Resource Unit and the site Nursing Administration Coordinators
Requirements
  • Completion of a recognized post-secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • One year of related secretarial experience
  • Previous on-the-job computer/word processing, database and spreadsheet software experience
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to produce high-quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Environment preferred
  • Experience working in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
