Our team is seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Monitoring Specialist to join our Canada-based operation in the Greater Toronto Area.

Job Description

  • Design, supply, install, and maintain monitoring systems on construction projects with support from local teams.
  • Provide technical expertise, design recommendations, quality control, and managerial support to project managers.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations, company policies, methods, and practices.
  • Prepare submittals, designs, material purchases, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Perform tasks listed below:
  1. Pre-installation: design, building, acceptance testing, logging, and records keeping.
  2. On-site installation: assembling, installing, configuring, and commissioning.
  3. Post-installation: prepare submittals, perform programming of loggers, and provide information to project managers and monitoring engineers.
  4. On-site maintenance and operations: routine QC inspections, calibrations, maintenance, and cleaning.
  5. Decommissioning and disposal: uninstall instruments, dispose of non-reusable parts, repatriate reusable parts, and document inventory data base.

Responsibilities

  • Attend client meetings and participate in presentations as assigned.
  • Provide documentation and support project managers to prepare and track claims, change orders, and extra work orders.
  • Act as Assistant Project Manager, as required.
  • Assist in risk assessment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil/Geotech Preferred).
  • Registration with Provincial Professional Association of Engineers is an asset.
  • OSHA 10-hour safety training.
  • First Aid/CPR.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic knowledge of job costing procedures.
  • Ability to suggest recommendations to project managers for project-related decisions such as estimating and risk assessment.
  • MS Word, Excel, and Outlook relative to reporting site construction and engineering activities.

Estimated Salary

$90,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on experience.

About You

  • Must be able to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, moving heavy materials up to 100 lbs, climbing, crawling, and working long hours in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to travel as per the company travel policy, often overnight and away from home.
