Senior Geotechnical Engineer/Operations Manager

At Skyline Recruitment Ltd, we are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead our operations in the Greater Toronto Area.

Salary: $130,000 - $170,000 per annum.

This is a key leadership role that requires strategic thinking and technical expertise to drive our geotechnical engineering practice forward. If you have a proven track record of managing operations, leading teams, and maintaining client relationships, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

As an Operations Manager/Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our geotechnical engineering services. This includes supervising employees, reviewing technical reports, coordinating resources, and developing and maintaining positive relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.

You will also be responsible for preparing and managing budgets, tracking performance metrics, and making adjustments as necessary to achieve goals. Additionally, you will engage in business development activities to expand our client base and strengthen existing relationships.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Staff Supervision: Ensure the well-being and safety of our teams at various work sites, supervise employees, mentor and guide staff at all levels, review technical reports, and coordinate resources.
  • Client Relations & Project Coordination: Serve as the key liaison between our clients and internal teams, develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, coordinate work assignments and project schedules, and collaborate with other teams within the company.
  • Financial & Administrative Management: Prepare and manage group budgets, track monthly performance metrics, make adjustments as necessary to achieve goals, and oversee the preparation of contract documents.
  • Business Development: Engage in business development activities to expand our client base and strengthen existing relationships, monitor industry trends, attend trade shows, professional associations, and events, and enhance our company's profile.
  • Quality Control & Technical Excellence: Review the work of your team to ensure it meets established standards, continuously seek ways to improve quality, manage projects from proposal to completion, including budget allocation, resource management, and client communication, and stay technically proficient by participating in professional practice groups and delivering training programs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Geotechnical, Civil, or Geological Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering and operational management.
  • Professional Engineering designation in Ontario.
  • Proven ability to manage operations, lead teams, and maintain client relationships.
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and business development skills.
