Job Summary

The Government of Alberta is seeking a highly skilled Operations Engineer to join our team in the Red Deer district. As a key member of our operations team, you will provide front-line operations engineering advice and supervision to ensure the delivery of highway maintenance programs, contract administration, and partnering efforts with maintenance contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver highway maintenance programs, including summer and winter maintenance, to ensure safe and efficient road conditions.
  • Prepare and administer contracts for consulting, construction, and highway maintenance services, as well as service agreements and memoranda of understanding.
  • Conduct engineering reviews for highway speed designations, signage, pedestrian crossings, signals, and railway crossings.
  • Provide technical support to the Roadside Development and Control group, as well as the Bridge, Construction, and Infrastructure business units.
  • Partner with maintenance contractors to ensure effective delivery of highway maintenance services.
  • Serve municipalities within the district with respect to highway operations issues.
  • Demonstrate project management skills, including time management and fiscal responsibilities.
