Director of Operations and Engineering

As the Director of Operations and Engineering at BBA inc., you will play a critical role in leading our Thunder Bay office to success. Your primary responsibility will be to develop and implement a strategic plan that defines the operational objectives for the office and ensures its successful execution. You will have the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team of professionals, growing to 15+ in the near future, and be responsible for building the firm's operations and managing the human and financial resources of the Thunder Bay office. This critical role reports directly to the regional executive.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish and implement a business plan for the Thunder Bay office, working closely with the regional executive.
- Build and maintain strong business relationships with local clients, identifying new opportunities and driving growth.
- Develop and manage the office's annual budget, ensuring financial stability and growth.
- Assess and report on the achievement of key performance indicators, making recommendations for improvement.
- Manage risk by reviewing all projects with the operations team, ensuring compliance with BBA's quality standards.
- Develop and implement policies, operational processes, and engineering practices that align with BBA's quality standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team, promoting innovation and excellence in all aspects of the business.
- Oversee the procurement of goods and services, office space leases, and other operational matters.
- Encourage a culture of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation, seeking solutions that improve the organization's business practices.
- University degree in engineering or a relevant field.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a consulting engineering firm.
- Significant network of contacts in the power and/or mining and metals sectors.
- In-depth knowledge of multidisciplinary engineering.
- Experience in team management, leadership, and business development.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
- Knowledge of French and Spanish is an asset.
