Job Summary

The City of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Patron and Volunteer Services Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our Cultural and Heritage Programs team, you will provide exceptional customer service to patrons, volunteers, and clients of the Meridian Theatres/Shenkman Arts Centre.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the activities of the box office and front of house staff and volunteers
  • Oversee the completion of accurate weekly deposits, cash floats, and financial statements
  • Ensure the Registration CLASS system is properly maintained
  • Perform general administrative functions for the unit
  • Provide general administrative and clerical functions to support the efficient operation, administration, and coordination of the City of Ottawa's volunteer resources, programs, and partnerships
  • Respond to routine requests for information concerning volunteer resources from City of Ottawa staff, members of council, and the general public
Requirements
  • Completion of a 2-year community college diploma in Arts Administration or a related field
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a leadership role, interacting with the public
  • 3 years of experience in a theatre or entertainment venue or similar environment
  • Current Standard First Aid, CPR, and/or AED certificates
Competencies, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent oral and written interpersonal communications, customer service, and leadership skills
  • Experience with training and developing volunteer groups
  • Capacity and desire to work effectively within a team environment
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude
What You Need to Know
  • Language Requirement: Designated Day 1 Ready – immediate requirement for language proficiency: French: oral, reading, writing English: oral, reading, writing
  • Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Criminal Records and Judicial Matters Check with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa's satisfaction
