Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Control Systems Designer to join our team at ATS Corporation. As an Electrical Control Systems Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing complete controls solutions and electrical design packages based on customer specifications and standardized design practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with mechanical designers to design control systems that enable machines to perform their intended functions safely and reliably.
  • Develop and produce detailed electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics, cable routing diagrams, panel layouts, bills of materials, and material requisitions based on ATS standard specifications and customer requirements.
  • Work with the Controls Engineering Department and other groups to improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhancing safety, functionality, and reducing costs.
  • Specify electrical and controls-related hardware and software and produce requisitions for material purchases.
  • Integrate third-party equipment and electronic components into electrical design packages.
  • Verify that electrical design packages are complete, accurate, and safe based on sound design practices and accepted standards.
  • Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide complete, functional systems.
  • Provide customers with training specific to their current project.
  • Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A post-secondary technology diploma or engineering degree or equivalent, specializing in electronics, electrical, or controls technology.
  • Three years of experience in electrical control systems design, preferably in the industrial automation field.
  • A working knowledge of ePlan and AutoCAD and the ability to keep abreast of leading-edge technology.
