Job Title: Automation Specialist

Johnson Electric is seeking a highly skilled Automation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering department, you will be responsible for the assembly, debugging, installation, and startup of new or modified production equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Optimize and upgrade production equipment to ensure long-term customer satisfaction, employee safety, and business economic success.
  • Work as a team member to complete the implementation of new or modified production machines in conjunction with new manufacturing projects.
  • Ensure operational quality and efficiency targets are maintained.
  • Implement safety protocols into each automation change.
  • Maintain Quality Operating Systems with respect to equipment documentation and record retention as per ISO/IATF 16949 standards.
  • Improve machine maintainability and reliability.
  • Work in compliance with Johnson Electric FPS Quality, Safety & Environmental Operating Systems.
  • Assist in materials acquisition and implementation and inventory control for all machine wears and spares.
  • Develop PLC and motion-based machine logic programs.
  • Complete run at rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations.
Requirements:
  • A technical diploma in engineering technology or appropriate combination of education & relevant experience.
  • Hands-on technical skills with respect to Mechanical Assembly, Machine Repair, Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems, PLC and CNC based control and logic systems.
  • 5+ yrs. experience in the hands-on repair and maintenance of CNC machining and automated assembly applications in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of automotive systems and quality requirements based on ISO/IATF 16949 operating systems.
  • Excellent communications, negotiating, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to redesign/engineer the machine components necessary to improve equipment performance.
  • Proficiency in related software.
  • Must be capable of specifying and sourcing materials and equipment to best suit requirements.
  • Familiarity with Fanuc controls and robotics and the programming of same.
