About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our Portfolio Management team at Scotiabank. As a Senior Manager, you will play a key role in driving business strategies, plans, and initiatives for Mortgage and HELOC Portfolios.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Sensitivity Analyses: Develop scenario frameworks and readiness playbooks by identifying and prioritizing levers to drive business performance.
  • Measure and Monitor Policy Changes: Assist various teams in development and adjustments to policy through judicious insights, focusing on credit performance.
  • Monitor Portfolio Indicators: Proactively assess performance alongside macro-economic and external trends, ensuring business strategies align with governing regulations and internal policies.
  • Senior Executive Assistance: Provide performance trending across portfolios and prepare judicious communication materials for senior executives.
  • Triangulate Data Analyses: Integrate internal data analyses with macro-economic and consumer trend reports to identify customer vulnerability and maintain performance benchmarks.
  • Lead GRM Colleagues: Improve portfolio monitoring and account management capabilities through integration of new models and frameworks.
  • Assist Annual Planning Process: Provide thought leadership on implications to KPIs and risk-related metrics, based on business objectives and growth plans.
  • Prepare Deep Dive Analyses: Conduct in-depth analyses on key segments within the RESL portfolio, provisioning, and peer trends.
  • Collect and Analyze Data: Collect, process, and perform statistical analysis on complex datasets to inform risk decisions.

Requirements:

  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to create and interpret information/data required to monitor the performance of credit portfolios.
  • Programming and Database Skills: Proficiency in programming and/or database programs (MongoDB, SAS, JAVA, SQL, R, Hadoop, Python).
  • Education: University degree in a relevant STEM discipline or a master's degree in business, statistics, economics, mathematics, management sciences, or analytics.
  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Expertise: Thorough understanding of credit and portfolio management, mortgage underwriting, and credit analytics.
  • Financial Skills: Strong financial skills, solid deductive reasoning, sound judgment, and creativity.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to various levels of management.
  • Credit Risk Management: Knowledge of credit risk management origination techniques and strategies in Retail credit, including the creation of champion/challenger tests and risk strategies utilizing credit risk scores.
