Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manager to join our Portfolio Management team at Scotiabank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving analyses, oversight, and thought leadership for Mortgage and HELOC Portfolios.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead Sensitivity Analyses: Develop scenario frameworks and readiness playbooks by identifying and prioritizing levers to drive business strategies, plans, and initiatives.
  2. Measure and Monitor Policy Changes: Assist various teams in development and adjustments to policy through judicious insights, focusing on credit performance across the credit life cycle.
  3. Monitor Portfolio Indicators: Proactively assess performance alongside macro-economic and external trends, ensuring compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.
  4. Senior Executive Assistance: Provide performance trending across portfolios and prepare judicious communication materials for senior executives.
  5. Triangulate Data Analyses: Integrate internal data analyses with macro-economic and consumer trend reports to identify customer vulnerability and maintain performance benchmarks.
  6. Lead GRM Colleagues: Improve portfolio monitoring and account management capabilities through integration of new models and frameworks.
  7. Assist Annual Planning Process: Provide thought leadership on implications to KPIs and risk-related metrics, based on business objectives and growth plans.
  8. Prepare Deep Dive Analyses: Conduct in-depth analyses on key segments within the RESL portfolio, provisioning, and peer trends.
  9. Collect and Analyze Data: Collect, process, and perform statistical analysis on complex datasets to inform risk decisions.
Requirements
  1. Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to create and interpret information/data required to monitor the performance of credit portfolios.
  2. Programming and Database Skills: Proficiency in programming and/or database programs, including MongoDB, SAS, JAVA, SQL, R, Hadoop, and Python.
  3. Education and Experience: University degree in a relevant STEM discipline or a master's degree in business, statistics, economics, mathematics, management sciences, or analytics, with 8-10 years of relevant work experience.
  4. Expertise and Understanding: Thorough understanding of credit and portfolio management, mortgage underwriting, and credit analytics, as well as RESL products, systems, and channels, and the markets in which Scotiabank operates.
  5. Financial Skills and Communication: Strong financial skills, solid deductive reasoning, sound judgment, and creativity, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  6. Credit Risk Management: Knowledge of credit risk management origination techniques and strategies in Retail credit, including the creation of champion/challenger tests and risk strategies utilizing credit risk scores.
