About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Portfolio Manager to join our Commercial Finance Group at Equitable Bank. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the management of our construction portfolio, providing guidance and support to our account managers, and ensuring that our lending and regulatory requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of our construction portfolio, including the review and approval of commercial credit facilities, and the development of strategies to mitigate risk.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to our account managers, and lead by example to inspire a high-performing team.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess risks associated with ongoing projects, and develop strategies to mitigate same.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our lending partners and internal stakeholders to ensure that projects remain on schedule and on budget.
  • Communication: Provide clear and concise communication to Senior Management and Partners, and ensure that all stakeholders are informed of project progress and any issues that may arise.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our portfolio management operations.
Requirements
  • Education: Post-secondary education (diploma/degree) in business or finance.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of progressively senior experience in commercial real estate lending, with a specific focus on construction lending.
  • Management Experience: Proven ability to inspire a team to work toward a set of goals and objectives.
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of the process of a construction project, from Zoning and Site Plan Approval requirements to Substantial Completion and Stabilization.
  • Soft Skills: Highly developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate to Senior Management and Partners in a clear, concise and professional manner.
