Job Summary

The Commission Scolaire Francophone des Territoires du Nord Ouest is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educator, Child Day Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Child Day Care team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality care and education to young children in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development and Implementation
    • Assist in the development and implementation of a daily program that meets the goals and objectives of the Commission Scolaire Francophone des Territoires du Nord Ouest and the Child Day Care Standards Regulations.
    • Plan and implement activities that meet the cultural, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program.
  • Child Supervision and Safety
    • Supervise children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being.
    • Notify the supervisor of any staff: child ratio issues.
  • Establishing Routines and Procedures
    • Establish routines and procedures consistent with the Commission Scolaire Francophone des Territoires du Nord Ouest's policies.
    • Identify and teach positive behaviors expected of children.
    • Adjust expectations to match the development levels of the children.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate regularly with parents and encourage their participation in the daily program.
    • Keep parents informed of their child's progress and participation in the daily program.
  • Administrative Tasks
    • Maintain current, accurate, and confidential files for all children under your care.
    • Keep accurate attendance records for all children under your care.
    • Complete required forms accurately and share them with your supervisor as directed.
Requirements
  • High School diploma and one (1) year of child care experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Current First Aid and infant/child CPR certifications.
  • Up-to-date immunizations.
  • Tuberculosis screening.
  • The completion of the NWT Essentials training is mandatory within 6 months of hire.
Working Conditions

The Educator, Child Day Care Specialist will be working in a fast-paced environment with varying physical demands, including bending, stooping, and squatting to lift and carry children. The position may also involve exposure to cleaning products or solutions containing chemicals and to blood and other bodily fluids.
