Job Summary

The Commission Scolaire Francophone des Territoires du Nord Ouest is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educator Assistant to join our team. As an Educator Assistant, you will play a vital role in the care and education of young children, contributing to their cognitive, social, and emotional development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the delivery of the daily program, ensuring a safe and engaging environment for children.
  • Supervise children during free play, outdoor activities, and field trips, maintaining a watchful eye on their well-being.
  • Support primary staff in implementing policies and procedures established by the CSFTNO, adhering to strict confidentiality and protection of privacy.
  • Participate in administrative duties, such as maintaining records and reporting incidents, as requested by primary staff.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team environment.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10 and experience working with young children.
  • Ability to acquire a respectful understanding of the northern cultural environment and build positive relationships with families, children, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of child development theories and practices, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Additional Requirements
  • Completion of NWT Essentials training within 6 months of hire.
  • Up-to-date immunizations and tuberculosis screening.
Working Conditions

The Educator Assistant will be located at the Child Day Care Facility in Yellowknife, working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The position requires constant movement, bending, stooping, and squatting to lift and carry children, as well as sitting on the floor or in child-sized furniture.

Language Requirements

French is required for this position, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and families.
