Velma's House 24/7 Safe Space – Administrative Coordinator

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Administrative Coordinator to join our team at Velma's House 24/7 Safe Space. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative support to our Program Coordinator and assist with day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reception support, including greeting guests, answering phone calls and emails, and directing communication to the appropriate person.
  • Manage and distribute mail, messages, and deliveries.
  • Prepare spaces for meetings, building tours, and site visits.
  • Manage inventory, including office supplies, harm reduction tools, and housekeeping products.
  • Attend the Workplace Health and Safety Committee.
  • Update internal staff communications boards.
  • Manage and track donations.
  • Perform data entry of high-volume statistics.
  • Create a monthly calendar of events for staff and guests.
  • Assist frontline staff in the drop-in space by providing referral and resource information.
  • Assist with entry-level finance tasks, such as cheque requisitions, expenses, and purchase orders.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated understanding of issues related to mental health, gender-based violence, problematic substance use, and sexual exploitation.
  • Knowledgeable on resources and systems within Winnipeg.
  • Commitment to cultural reclamation practices and Two-Eyed Seeing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams).
  • Highly proficient in interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills.
  • Team player who can work safely and collaboratively in fast-paced and high-needs environments.

Education and Experience:

  • 1-3 years of related formal training and work experience, combined with lived experience.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Satisfactory completion of a recent Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry check.
  • Current Emergency First Aid Certificate and CPR.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or related Crisis Management Training.
  • Opioid Reversal Training.
  • Mental Health First Aid and ASIST training is an asset.
  • Valid Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License.
